4. Retrieving images
There are three ways to retrieve images.
a) Remove the memory card
With this method, you may have a card reader on your personal computer. So you can retrieve the images directly from the card. This method is also useful if you want your images printed at a photographic shop.
The shop will have card readers that customers use to load images directly into their system. The images are then printed, whilst they wait, using their professional (and expensive!) colour printers.
b) USB cable
Many cameras have a mini-USB port fitted, so all you do is connect an USB cable to the computer and upload the images directly from the camera. The images may need to be erased from the camera to make room for more.
Images can be printed on to photographic paper using an ink jet colour printer.
c) Upload via the internet
This is a common method with mobile phone cameras. Many mobiles have an internet connection, and this can be used to upload the images directly to a photo-sharing site such as Flickr or they can be emailed as an attachment.
