Up until about ten years ago, all cameras were 'analogue' devices. They used silver halide film to record images.
Unless you were a keen photographer with your own photo developing room, you sent the film away to be processed. You could purchase black & white film or colour or perhaps even slide film..
Some days later your photos came back - usually with many of them having a thumb covering the lens or chopped off heads and wonky angles!
Now digital cameras have taken over the old technology.
