World Wide Web (WWW)
The World Wide Web is that part of the Internet which is made up of web sites. Each Web site is made up of one or more web pages. The idea of the World Wide Web was put forward by a number of people, including Tim Berners-Lee (who has now been knighted in the United Kingdom!).
It is only used to describe web pages that are connected to the Internet. For example web pages saved on a CD would not be considered to be part of the WWW.
There is also a WWW organisation called the WWW Consortium that is dedicated to promoting web standards.
