Wrap text

A word processing, presentation and spreadsheet term.

Quite often, when writing out a longish piece of text, it can appear as one long horizontal sentence. This has several problems

* It look odd

* It is hard work to read

* The end may be out of view

So to solve this problem, many software applications such as a word processing package or spreadsheet allow you to constrain the text to a certain width. This is called word wrap.

If the text exceeds a given width then the next part wraps under the first part and so on. For example

This is a very long boring sentence that seeks to show the problem.

This is a very long boring sentence that seeks to show the problem.

The one in the box wraps text.
