Presentation graphics
People are extremely good at seeing patterns. This is why 'graphics' are such a powerful way of presenting data.
Presentation graphics are designed to show quite complicated data in a way that people can instantly understand in a visual form. Popular forms include graphs and charts.
For example, the BBC sport news wants to report the latest league results - they show a snazzy, animated tabulated graphic of the results sliding on to the TV screen. This is much more interesting than a basic static table.
The downside of presentation graphics is that it may be over-used - you may use the built in animations of a presentation package just because they are there, when a simple table would have been sufficient.
