Pentium Processor
Pentium is the brand name given to a family of microprocessors that Intel produced until 2005
The Pentium first came out in 1993 and replaced the Intel 486 CPU. It is a 'single processor' family i.e. they have one computer core within the chip. Each generation of Pentium was more powerful than the last with clock speed rising to around 3Ghz.
Recently Intel have replaced this family with Dual and Quad core microprocessor chips called the Intel Core family.
