A 'Hertz' is another word for 'cycles per second'. It is a measure of frequency and computer clock speed.
'Kilo' is the metric term for one thousand.
So 1KHz is 1 thousand cycles per second
For example, the maximum range of sound that a person can hear is from 20Hz up to 20Khz.
