IPTV
Short for Internet Protocol Television.
Normal television channels are delivered mainly by radio signals. Either by analogue signals coming in from an ordinary rooftop aerial or as digital signals via satellite, cable or digital aerial.
Now, there is another way for television channels to be viewed - namely via the Internet. The television channel is delivered using the Internet's main protocol - appropriately enough called Internet Protocol.
This is still very early days for ipTV. But if enough customers buy into it, then it may take off. Services such a 'video on demand' are part of the idea - customers simply request a program or film then pay a fee to view it.
You must have a broadband connection to receive ipTV.
