Icon

An Icon is a computer graphic, usually a small picture which is used to represent a file or application stored on your computer system.

The icon can provide a shortcut to opening a file, it can provide a link to a web page or it may be used as a command e.g. the floppy disk icon in your word processing package is the command to save your work.
