Hit
A web site term.
A 'hit' is a request for 1 item from a web site.
It is not a very useful measurement because a web page is normally made up of a mixture of text, images and other types of media such as Flash. Each of these is a separate file. So viewing a single page will cause many hits.
A better measurement of visitors traffic is 'page views' which counts the delivery of an entire page as 1 event.
