Event
An 'event' is something happenning that causes a computer programme to change its behaviour.
Common events are key presses and mouse clicks. The keyboard and mouse driver software within the operating system will send these events to the programme currently running. That program will then move its cursor icon (mouse movement) or perhaps show some text being entered (key presses).
