Creative industries
An informal way of grouping certain types of industries.
The 'creative' industries refer to companies that are involved mainly in the advertising and multimedia areas of business.
Typically a creative industry organisation will have a heavy emphasis on multimedia such as video and audio production.
The pure movie companies are not really part of the creative industry because they produce a product (movie) that is sold directly to consumers whilst the creative industry is mainly concerned with indirectly selling products they are paid to promote e.g perfume, cars etc.
For example, when an advertising company is talking to a client such as a car maker they talk about the 'creative' to be produced.
