Control Panel
An interface term.
A software control panel allows you to access all the information available on a computer from a screen. Icons are pressed or menu items selected that provide access to the data. For example a printer might have an LCD software control panel that lets you set things like paper size and so on.
A hardware control panel is an interface that allows you to control a piece of hardware. Typical control panel items include knobs, sliders, gauges and buttons.
