4: Formulae
When you enter a calculation into a spreadsheet, this is called a 'Formula'.
This spreadsheet contains 6 different values in the coloured cells. To add them together, a formula has been used.
Cell E9 contains the formula.
This formula is visible in the 'Formula Bar' just above the C, D and E columns (=A1+C2+E4+ B5+A7+D7).
The formula is telling the spreadsheet to add together all of the values contained in those cells and display the answer in cell E9 (21).
A formula always begins with an equals = symbol.
