KEY STAGE THREE
COMPUTING
THEORY
2. Input
An ‘input’ is anything that that the computer needs in order to do some work. For example there are many input devices available such as
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Touch sensitive screen as on a tablet or smart phone
All of these devices send data into the computer for processing.
If data is already available in the computer, for example loaded from a file stored on hard disk, then the computer can process that directly as well.
This kind of data is also classed as an input.
So - Input is data that is ready to be processed.
All data within the computer is in binary form – binary 0 and binary 1.
