5. Working at home

working from homeMany organisations have people working from home. This is called 'teleworking'. They still need to have the same communication support that their colleagues at the office enjoy. So they too will be using either land line or mobile phone to make contact.

In addition they may also have basic video conferencing facilities in the form of web camera (Webcam). This allows them to have face to face contact with customers and colleagues.

The teleworker is can also connect to the company network via an encrypted connection over the internet. So someone from home can do virtually the same things as the traditional office worker.

VoIP services and instant messaging services both support the use of Webcams and this has proven invaluable for deaf people wanting to communicate by phone as they can use sign language directly.
