Let us assume that a decision has been made within an organisation for a significant change. Some examples are detailed below.

Example

The company has serious cash flow problems. They cannot pay everyone their normal salaries for the next few months. This issue needs to be handled carefully.

 

Example

A company is part of a larger organisation and a decision has been made to sell it off. This will make all the employees uncertain about their futures.

 

Example

The governement has mandated a new curriculum within schools. This will affect all existing students undertaking the old syllabus and it will have a large impact on all the planning and preparation that teachers need to undertake. Managing this change with the least amount of disruption will take careful planning.

 

Example

A company has just been granted an important patent that will potentially make them millions - expansion, new premises, additional staff will be needed. Managing this expansion need to consider the future of existing staff.

 

Example

A large corporation has decided to close a department employing fifty people. They no longer have a formal job but they are given three months to find another role within the company. Supporting people during this stressful time need to be done compassionately.

 

Example

A large television broadcasting company has decided to move their operations from London to Salford. People working in London will now have to either re-locate or commute across country. This disruption needs to handled fairly.
