2. Penetration Testing
As part of the penetration testing, professionals use the very latest hacking tools. They may even have a set of tools which they have designed.
Once they have carried out the penetration test, a report is given to the company. This report will highlight any weaknesses which were found in the system. It will also provide suggestions as to how these vulnerabilities can be fixed.
Hacking a computer system is illegal in the UK and is covered by the Computer Misuse Act.
If caught, hackers can face a lengthy prison sentence. So before penetration testing can begin, anyone involved will ensure they have a written contract with the company which specifies what they can, and cannot, do.
There are two types of penetration testing:
- White box testing
- Black box testing
