3. Kilobyte - KB
A kilobyte is a 1,000 bytes.
There is also an international SI unit called the kibibyte which is 1024 bytes (2 to the power of 10) but people tend to only use the term kilobyte.
A kilobyte is equivalent to 1000 characters on the screen.
To help you see to what a storage capacity of a kilobyte is able to do, the text contained in the box below has exactly 1000 characters (not including spaces).

A kilobyte is not a lot, but that much text is useful in many different ways - browser cookies for example.
Images usually take up more storage space than text characters. The image below will help you put storage sizes into context.
